Cunningham/Pido Reunite and Take home the MONEY

Atlantic Bassmasters held their late summer candlewood tounament this past weekend.  Conditions were stable and fair for the day.  Mild wind and mostly blue skies covered the lake Saturday and the most of the field fished well.  Kevin Cunningham and old partner Joe Pido reunited for today’s event and took first place with over 13 lbs topping the  DeStefano/Timpanaro team who weighed in a 16 pound bag but incurred a  stiff 3lb penalty for getting back late. Neil DeStefano caught the day’s lunker which was a 4.5lb smallmouth.

Musarra Musarra FIND GOLD on Oscawana

pot-gold-rainbow-600x450This year’s mechanically troubled team, Musarra Musarra find gold at Oscawana Lake with two fish over 4 pounds, one of them weighing in over 5 pounds. The team weighed in 15.75 lbs overall and took first place and price money at Oscawana this weekend.  Timpanaro and DeStefano finished second and this year’s leading team in points and weight…. Rodgers and Rodgers finished in third place, loosing their stronghold in the AOY race. The club only had 4 teams competing at this event but many good size fish were weighed in which is impressive quality for Oscawana.

Conditions were ordinary for August, hot early on and some periods of light cloud cover.  Light steady wind moved in the area around mid-day. Some boat traffic kicked in during noon time but fishing was overall fair for the field.

Rodgers and Rodgers WIN Another Candlewood

This years hottest hand, just got hotter. Father and son team Rodgers and Rodgers win another Candlewood TX.  Unlike last year, this year’s angler of the year  title is getting sealed up early  in the season.  Pepe and Pepe take the days lunker with a 5lb largemough.  Their grass bite  is monumental this time of year.

Great conditions for fishing, but someone forgot to tell that to the fish.  Most of the fisherman struggled, even the winning team only squeaked out 5 fish today.

Some other highlights of the day:

hitchcocks-birds-child-editTimpanaro gets attacked by a killer mocking bird and nearly jumps into the lake to avoid its pouncing

Musarra’s lower unit blows up and gets DQ’ed

Rumor on the street: Musarra has been approached by the Environmental Protection Agency and may be asked to leave Fairfield county if he doesn’t stop polluting the air and waterways of CT. This photo, property of DEP, was taken by a spy vessel disguised as a fisherman. The man hunt is on. They are tracking him via the lower unit oil slick left behind on his car ride home.

Crippled Duo Musarra/Musarra WINS ZOAR

Musarra and son win lake Zoar this weekend. The father and son team beat the other three teams with a solid mixed bag including the days lunker (a 3.5 lb largemouth).

Brisk morning, windy and warming conditions through out the day tested the fields talents and patience.   The duo reported 6 bites and the crippled team never had a trolling motor. What a victory for this team.2015-05-23 16.41.18
